Gottfried was known for his unique, unmistakable voice and his family described him as “the most iconic voice in comedy.”

The comedian voiced Iago, the parrot from Disney’s 1992 animated film “Aladdin,” and famously voiced as the duck mascot for Aflac Insurance. Over the past couple of years, he was known in the social media sphere for the TikTok videos he made with his daughter at the start of the pandemic.

His family said he was a “wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children.”

“Although today is a sad day for us all, please keep laughing as possible in Gilbert’s honor,” his family concluded.
