Dog dies, two taken to the hospital after a house fire in northwest Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – A family dog died in an early morning house fire in Northwest Roanoke, according to fire officials. They tell 10 News two people were taken to the hospital, one in serious condition.

Firefighters responded around 8:30 a.m. Saturday to the 200 block of Frances Dr. NW.

Upon arrival, crews spotted smoke and flames billowing from the home. Once inside they discovered the fire located in the basement.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
