SALEM, Va. – UPDATE:
The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office is working to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a home on Tuesday morning.

At 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to the 1200 block of Wildwood Road for a structure fire, crews said.
When units got to the scene, they said they saw heavy black smoke and marked it a working fire while responding.
Salem Fire and EMS units also responded to the scene and found a two-story wood-frame home that was fully involved in the fire, according to Roanoke County Fire and Rescue.
Crews said they were able to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
There was no one inside at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries reported, crews said. A dog and a cat were both found safe later, according to the department.
One resident is now displaced as the home is a total loss, authorities said.
We’re told the Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office is now working to investigate a cause.
On Tuesday evening, the Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office reported that the estimated damages to the home and a nearby vehicle are $178,500.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the Wildwood Road area in Salem as the Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department responds to a fire.
