Pulaski County School Board announces new superintendent

Dr. Robert Graham was superintendent at Radford City Public Schools for eight years

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. – The Pulaski County School Board has chosen a new superintendent.

Dr. Robert Graham will be the new superintendent of Pulaski County Public Schools. He had just submitted his resignation from his superintendent position at Radford City Public Schools earlier this week.

“I do want to go to my mother for advice when things in my professional advice become difficult and challenging… When one door closes, another one will open up, when she was partially right. If she had said Robby, if one door closes and another very special door will open, then she would have been 100% correct,” Dr. Graham said. “I want to thank Dr. Siers for encouraging me to apply for this position and for being a very dear friend over these last very difficult six months in RCPS.”

“I also want to thank the citizens of Pulaski who have showered me with great support over the past few days,” he added. “Please know how grateful I am for this opportunity and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

School officials said they had over 20 applicants for the position and voted unanimously to approve Dr. Graham on Thursday evening.

“I cannot think of someone any more fit to take over,” Dr. Kevin Siers, the district’s current superintendent, said.

Dr. Siers submitted his resignation from the district in early May after he accepted a position at Franklin County Public Schools, as we previously reported.
