48 new state troopers will now serve the Commonwealth

Dozens of new state troopers will be hitting the streets to serve and protect the Commonwealth.

This morning, 48 trainees graduated from the 142nd class of Virginia State Troopers after 28 weeks of intense training. Nine graduates will join our region, with the others assigned statewide.

“They need to be at their best when people are having their worst times. So we need to put them through a lot of training and a lot of difficulty in order for them to be able to react to that when the time comes.”

Matt Demlein, Public Relations Coordinator for Virginia State Police

Governor Glenn Youngkin attended to congratulate the troopers and their families. The class includes a diverse group from places like New York and Japan.
