ROANOKE, Va. – Business is booming at local flower shops where staff have spent weeks preparing for Valentine’s Day deliveries.
George’s Flowers has been preparing for weeks for their busiest time of the year. Each year the shop brings in a giant refrigeration truck so the flowers stay fresh, while employees work overtime to keep up with the demand.
“So we typically do almost 3 weeks of regular business in a 3-day period for Valentine’s Day. so it is the largest holiday that we do,” George Clements, founder of George’s Flowers, said.
But this year there was an added twist with tariffs that would have affected their supply. Clements says that they get regular shipments from Colombia and Canada.
