ORIGINAL STORY

Daydrian Martin, the 15-year-old who was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of 15-year-old Isaac Cunningham, has pleaded guilty.

Martin was tried as an adult in this case, and is now scheduled for sentencing on July 21.

Martin pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • First-degree murder
  • Use of Firearm in Felony

According to the City of Roanoke, Martin hired a Lyft to take him to the area near William Fleming High School where the shooting occurred. Witnesses stated they saw Martin chasing after Cunningham and shooting at him near the intersection of Routt Road and Ferncliff Avenue, NW. Cunningham was struck by two bullets. First aid was quickly administered by crews, but sadly, Cunningham succumbed to his injuries at Roanoke Memorial Hospital within the hour of the incident.

While receiving aid from officers, Cunningham stated that Martin was the man who shot him. This resulted in police seizing Martin’s cell phone and searching his home. In the home, police found a pistol with an extended magazine, and determined that the pistol fired all 24 shots.
