The assessors reviewed the agency from its vehicles and equipment to Martinsville's facility, personnel, policies and procedures. The assessment began on Monday, January 12 and continued until Wednesday January 14.

On Thursday. February 19 Chief Sean Dunn and Sergeant Patrick Agee traveled to Newport News for the VLEPSC Commission Board meeting where the report on their accreditation assessment was presented to the members of the board. In a unanimous decision the board voted to award the agency with their 4th re-accreditation Certificate of Accreditation.

The police department says to obtain accreditation, a law enforcement agency must meet all applicable program standards, maintain their accreditation files on an on-going basis and provide annual verifications of compliance as required by the Commission. On-site assessments by specially trained program assessors assure consistency and full compliance of all accredited agencies.
