Virginia sees 1,134 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 175,409 statewide

There are now 3,600 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of October 27, Virginia is now reporting 175,409 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Tuesday’s total of 175,409 marks an increase from Monday’s total of 174,275 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 1,134 new cases in Virginia:

  • 147 new cases in Prince William County
  • 72 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 48 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 45 new cases in Henrico County
  • 38 new cases in Norfolk
  • 35 new cases in Roanoke and Richmond
  • 34 new cases in Roanoke County
  • 33 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 30 new cases in Harrisonburg
  • 29 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 25 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 24 new cases in Arlington County
  • 21 new cases in Salem
  • 19 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 18 new cases in Alexandria
  • 17 new cases in Hanover County
  • 16 new cases in Newport News
  • 15 new cases in Scott County
  • 14 new cases in Bedford County and Prince Edward County
  • 13 new cases in Montgomery County, Henry County and Stafford County
  • 12 new cases in Tazewell County, Spotsylvaia County and Prince George County
  • 11 new cases in Franklin County, Frederick County, Rockingham County, Danville, Warren County, Manassas and Nottoway County
  • 10 new cases in Wise County and Amherst County
  • 9 new cases in Pittsylvania County and Campbell County
  • 8 new cases in Petersburg and Hopewell
  • 7 new cases in Charlottesville, Dinwiddie County, Bristol, Hampton, Staunton, Botetourt County and Smyth County
  • 6 new cases in Lee County, Russell County, Albemarle County, Suffolk and Isle of Wight County
  • 5 new cases in Halifax County, Portsmouth, Buchanan County, Augusta County, Wythe County, Caroline County, Franklin and Grayson County
  • 4 new cases in Winchester, Carroll County, Giles County, Radford and Fredericksburg
  • 3 new cases in Shenandoah County, Pulaski County, Fauquier County, Floyd County, York County, Colonial Heights, Martinsville, King William County, Dickenson County, Mathews County and Waynesboro
  • 2 new cases in Louisa County, Southampton County, Mecklenburg County, King George County, Northumberland County, Cumberland County, Manassas Park, Buckingham County, Fairfax, Covington and James City County
  • 1 new case in Washington County, Lexington, Emporia, Bland County, Powhatan County, Page County, Galax, Accomack County, Greensville County, Richmond County, Goochland County, Patrick County, Norton, Charles City County, Rockbridge County, Fluvanna County, Amelia County, Madison County, Craig County and Greene County
  • Culpeper County, Appomattox County, Lancaster County and Sussex County have all decreased by one case
  • Orange County has decreased by two cases
  • Gloucester County has decreased by four cases
  • New Kent County has decreased by five cases

As of Tuesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 2,720,196 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
