A man who was wanted in numerous Southwest Virginia Counties was arrested in Patrick County on Friday, Patrick County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Southside Health District announced Friday that Buckingham, which borders Halifax County, is experiencing a measles outbreak. The number of cases has been climbing since early May.

An ongoing measles outbreak in Buckingham County is continuing to grow, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

The Virginia Department of Health announced they are investigating a confirmed measles case and likely exposures in Buckingham County.

A man is in custody after a 49-year-old man was found dead in Amherst County, according to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office.

BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. – A community in Buckingham County is in mourning for a 31-year-old woman who died following a crash involving a horse-drawn buggy. John and Sylvia Yoder and their four children were traveling in a horse-drawn buggy, Friday afternoon. John Yoder was thrown from the buggy when it was struck by the Silverado pickup driven by 67-year-old George M. Lee. Sylvia Yoder was taken to UVA Medical Center as well where she died Saturday morning. One of the horses in the buggy had to be put down on scene, and the other was taken to the vet.
