Virginia has recorded 10 confirmed measles cases this year, double the number reported last year, VDH said. Health officials urged people who are not fully vaccinated or otherwise immune to contact their doctor about vaccination and testing.

Centra Lynchburg General Hospital officially broke ground Thursday on a $140 million hospital tower.  It marks the largest healthcare construction project in Centra Health’s nearly 40-year history. The six-story tower expansion is a part of Centra’s long-term Modernization Plan.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A two-vehicle crash in Lynchburg on Wednesday left one person dead and another seriously hurt. 28-year-old Paris Carta, of Lynchburg, died from her injuries, according to the Lynchburg Police Department. Another person was taken to Centra Lynchburg General Hospital with “significant” injuries. A passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with “serious” injuries according to police. Police said the driver of the utility truck wasn’t hurt.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Centra updated its current visitation restrictions to allow one visitor per patient. The change goes into effect at 6 p.m. on Friday. In just two weeks, leaders at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital have seen a 96% increase in positive COVID-19 cases. On Wednesday, Centra leaders said there are 34 patients with the virus. The COVID has ravished his lungs so much that he really cant use his lungs, so much that he really cant use them currently anymore to oxygenate. Centra added that for the first time in months, the Centra Southside Community Hospital hospital saw no COVID-19 positive patients. In Lynchburg, Centra leaders said the Virginia Department of Health is having a hard time getting people to answer questions.

LYNCHBURG, Va. Centra officials in Lynchburg are seeing a surge in coronavirus patients. Last week, they had 20 people on the COVID-19 floor at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. There are 15 people in the hospital right now, eight of whom are in intensive care unit. Approved visitors as well as outpatients with scheduled appointments will be screened for symptoms and temperature prior to entry.
