Stifling defense leads to Radfordโs fifth conference win
RADFORD, Va. โ The Radford menโs basketball team used stifling defense and held a Hampton team that averages 41.0 percent shooting to just 38.7 percent in a 76-65 win on Tuesday night inside the Dedmon Center. It was the Highlandersโ first lead since the early minutes of the game. Jeffers had 14 first half points, which set a career-high, topping his previous of 12. He ended the game with 16 points on 5-of-5 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers and four free throws. He finished the game with 14 rebounds and 13 points, picking up his second career double-double.
Morton-Robertson lifts Radford past Presbyterian 71-65
CLINTON, S.C. โ Quinton Morton-Robertson posted 18 points as Radford got past Presbyterian 71-65. Lewis Djonkam added 16 points, Dravon Mangum chipped in 11, and Chyree Walker had 10 for Radford. FahโMir Ali, the Highlandersโ leading scorer heading into the contest at 10 points per game, shot only 14% in the game (1 of 7). Owen McCormack added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Rayshon Harrison had 12 points and six rebounds. The Radford women came up short to Presbyterian 62-51, falling to 0-5 on the season.
Radford falls short against Vanderbilt on Saturday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. โ The Radford menโs basketball team fell short against Vanderbilt on Saturday night and dropped a 59-50 contest in Memorial Gym. Radford shot 46.2 percent from the floor in the first half and held Vanderbilt to just 34.4 percent. Then Radford cut the lead to three points, 47-44, at the 6:39 mark thanks to Shaquan Jules and Dante Moses. Radford led in bench points, 29-11. Radford turned the ball over 19 times and Vanderbilt scored 17 points off the turnovers.
Sharp shooting, stifling defense helps Radford knock off Presbyterian
CLINTON, S.C. โ Hot shooting and solid defense was the difference on Saturday night as the Radford menโs basketball team knocked off Presbyterian, 75-64, at the Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C. During the second half Radford shot 55.2 percent and went 4-for-10 from beyond the arc. With 16:32 on the clock, Hicks hit his first 3-pointer of the second half and gave Radford the lead, 40-38. Radford shot 51.9 percent as a team in the first half and increased it to 55.2 percent in the second half.
