A man has been arrested for allegedly threatening Danville Area Humane Society Virginia over the phone, according to the police department.

A crash has closed the eastbound ramp to South Boston Road in Danville, according to city officials.

Authorities are searching for the suspect in two commercial business robberies that happened over the weekend in Danville.

DANVILLE, Va. – A man is dead after a crash on South Boston Road in Danville on Monday afternoon. The single-vehicle crash happened at around 12:35 p.m. near the intersection of Gough Street, according to the Danville Police Department. The driver, 63-year-old Michael Simmons, of Danville, died at the scene. Police said Simmons was headed west in a silver Toyota Echo when he started to swerve before hitting a metal pole near the road, according to witnesses. DANVILLE, Va. - Police are looking for a man they say robbed a Domino's Pizza at gunpoint just after 9 p.m. Friday. Officers say the suspect took cash from the South Boston Road business, and no one was harmed in this incident. They say the suspect left the area, and the investigation is ongoing.
