Domestic Abuse Disruption group holds self defense class
Salem (WSLS 10) - An local organization wants to help women defend themselves.
Volunteers with Domestic Abuse Disruption held a self defense class Billy's Barn in Salem.
Organizers say they want to teach women how to use ordinary items like keys or pencils to get away from their attacker.
"I hope they at least leave with one thing that they did not know before and it's not necessarily about the defense techniques, we do a three stage process, and it's detect, detour, and defend and the detect and detour are just as important as everything else," Trey Gregory, an organizer said.
The self defense class is free.
