ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A Roanoke man will serve life in prison for killing a one-year-old girl and hurting her mother.

Warner Hunter III pleaded guilty to firing multiple shots at Rachel Quesenberry on July 16, 2015 and her daughter, Aryah Lipford, who died from her injuries.

Hunter's roommate testified in court saying Hunter was angry because Quesenberry borrowed his car and wouldn't return his calls.

The judge sentenced Hunter to life in prison saying any case involving a child is a different matter.

We talked to Hunter's father, Warner Hunter Jr., after the sentencing.

"Sadness but at the same time there's not a win here regardless of my son that got life in prison," says Hunter Jr.

Hunter's father went up to Aryah's father, Michael Lipford, after the sentencing.

"I miss everything about her," says Lipford. "There's nothing I miss the most just her being here, her touch."
