ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Valley Metro expands its bus line with a goal of sparking job growth. Riders are now able to travel to the Roanoke Center for Technology and Industry on Blue Hills Drive.

It's part of a six-month pilot program. The idea is to take people looking for jobs to an area where many major corporations like Advance Auto, FedEx, and Elizabeth Arden are located.

"Matter of fact, we're going through a vision plan right now and so, one of the most requested things from the public surveys was the connection to RCIT," said Valley Metro Assistant General Manager Kevin Price.

It will cost $60,000 to operate the additional bus, which will run during peak hours.

If the program is successful, the bus line will become permanent.
