Community members attend 4th annual Dialogue on Race Relations

CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS10) People in Montgomery County took a proactive approach to improve race relations. About 120 people attended the 4th Annual Dialogue on Race Summit.

The community came together to talk about issues such as white privilege, law enforcement interaction especially with minorities and a hot button topic in Montgomery County, the origins of the confederate battle flag.

Organizers said  the goal of the event is to alleviate racism in Montgomery county.

"We don't want folks made to feel we're pointing fingers, we're pointing blame. We're moving forward and we need you to be a apart of that but you need to understand these are barriers for decades centuries we need to overcome," Penny Franklin, an organizer said.
