Pittsylvania County breaks ground on four new parks
GRETNA (WSLS10) - Work is underway on four new parks in Pittsylvania County.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Gretna Middle School Wednesday morning, where one of the parks will be.
The other three will be at the county's other three middle schools.
The project costs $625,000 with citizens paying $150,000 of that amount. The rest will come from grants and donations.
"The park project includes a 10 ft. wide paved walking track, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and restrooms," said Pittsylvania County Parks and Rec Director Mark Moore,"It's bringing access to open spaces out in the county for the citizens."
The parks are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
