WATE Newsroom – ROGERSVILLE (WATE) – The uncle of Carlie Trent will appear in court Monday after a recent state-wide Amber Alert.
Gary Simpson, 58, is charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and custodial interference. The hearing is set for 1 p.m.

He will have the counsel of an appointed Hawkins County public defender. In a court appearance on May 16, Simpson claimed his son's SSI was his only source of household income.
If convicted of the kidnapping charge, he could spend up to 25 years in prison. Simpson is being held in jail on a $1 million bond.
