God's Pit Crew's Blessing Bucket Drive underway

DANVILLE (WSLS10) - Volunteers across Southwest Virginia are helping make sure God's Pit Crew has the Blessing Buckets they need to respond to disasters.

On Friday, volunteers were at Wal-Mart on Mt. Cross Road in Danville and several other locations across Southwest Virginia and North Carolina passing out lists to shoppers, asking them to purchase some items on the list and then donate them on their way out.

The list includes things like bottled water, toothbrushes and flashlights with extra batteries.

All of the items will be divided into buckets which God's Pit Crew will give to disaster victims.

"Hopefully, they'll go into Wal-Mart and buy an item, or several, and bring them back and we'll collect them and put them in the buckets later. Or, if they'd just rather make a monetary donation we'll accept that also," said David Foster, a volunteer with the Brotherhood of Ringgold Baptist Church.

Items will be collected on Saturday as well from 10 a.m.to 6 p.m.
