Lynchburg Police Officer arrested for DUI

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg Police Officer Timothy L. Dooley was arrested by Virginia State Police for driving while intoxicated on Sunday, August 21st.

Officer Dooley was off-duty at the time and operating his personal vehicle when he was stopped by a V.A. State Trooper on Campbell Avenue, exit-460 West ramp at approximately 1:40 a.m. Officer Dooley has been employed with the LPD for 15 years and currently holds the rank of Senior Specialist.

Following the incident, Officer Dooley was placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of both a criminal and internal investigation. This is established procedure.

The LPD is reviewing the matter internally while V.A. State Police handle the criminal investigation.
