Fire destroys northern Virginia Mansion

FAIRFAX COUNTY (WSLS 10) - An investigation is underway this morning after a fire destroys a mansion owned by the United Arab Emirates Embassy in northern Virginia.

Fairfax County firefighters spent more than 12 hours putting out the blaze on Saturday.

Six people and two dogs were inside when the fire started.

They managed to escape unharmed, thanks to smoke alarms.

Fire officials say the location of the home presented challenges in fighting the blaze as there were no hydrants in the neighborhood.

The five-bedroom, six bathroom home is completely destroyed and according to tax records, it was worth $2.7 million.
