Salem Red Sox announce new field name, video board and more

SALEM (WSLS 10) - The Salem Red Sox and Haley Toyota announced a new partnership to rename the team's playing field pm Thursday.

As part of a multi-year deal between the team and Haley Toyota, the field will be called Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark.

The field will feature a brand new 36-foot wide video board, as well as improved facilities and in-game entertainment during the season.

Games will be broadcasted on ESPN Roanoke and ESPN Blacksburg.

These changes come as Salem marks a new era, celebrating its 50th year of baseball in the Carolina League.

"Chuck and his team over at Haley Toyota of Roanoke have been great partners over the past few years. Really they've been involved with the team for more than a decade and this is really a natural partnership for them to step up at this level with naming rights with us," said Red Sox President and General Manager Ryan Shelton.

"The opportunity arose for us to have a bigger footprint I guess and we jumped at the opportunity. We're excited to be affiliated with the Fenway group and Salem and the Salem Red Sox," said Chuck Baker with Haley Toyota.

The new video board will be complete by Monday with the season opener set for Thursday.
