WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. – Law enforcement officials are investigating a possible animal cruelty case after the carcass of a dog was found inside an evicted resident's apartment, according to WCYB.

Animal control officer Cecil Lawson told the NBC affiliate they have a written citation for Lindsey Price, of Johnson City, after her former landlord made the discovery and contacted their office.

The dog had been locked inside a room in the apartment and had been dead for months, said Lawson.

WCYB reports landlord Dale Fitzgerald sent Price an eviction notice and the skeletal remains were there when he went to clean the residence.

Price has not been seen since she moved out, Fitzgerald said.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police.
