Danville utility worker now stable after explosion, another released from hospital

Both men suffered burns from the explosion

Both of the Danville utility workers injured during an explosion on Monday are doing better.

David Ward is now in stable condition at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The other man, Charles Sutton, was treated and released from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. 

ORIGINAL STORY

Two men were injured during an explosion Monday Morning outside the Intertape Polymer Group plant on Eagle Springs Road in Pittsylvania County, according to the city of Danville.

The two city of Danville utility workers, Charles Sutton and David Ward, suffered burns, but the extent is not known at this point.

Sutton was flown directly to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Ward was transported to UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Sutton has been treated and released. Ward's condition remains unknown at this time.

The explosion occurred around 11 a.m., said Danville utilities director Jason Grey.
