Nearly 3,000 without power throughout the commonwealth

Power slowly being restored throughout southwest Virginia

ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE

As of 11 a.m., there are 2,760 Appalachian Power customers without power in the commonwealth.

Most of the counties in our area have seen a significant decrease in the number of outages. However, Pulaski County still has 1,036 customers without power. 


UPDATE

More than 5,000 Appalachian Power customers are without power as of 9 a.m. Thursday. 

Below are the counties with the most notable outages, according to the AEP outage map: 

  • Henry County: 1,134
  • Roanoke County: 1,035
  • Pulaski County: 712
  • Carroll County: 465
  • Roanoke City: 381
  • Franklin County: 167
  • Grayson County: 123

Outages in Wythe County have gone from 122 earlier Thursday morning to 14, as of 9 a.m. 


UPDATE

More than 3,100 Appalachian Power customers are still without power Thursday morning. 

As of 4:45 a.m., 929 were without power in Roanoke County, 608 are without power in Pulaski County, 370 are without power in Carroll County, 369 are without power in Roanoke City, 164 are without power in Wythe County and 122 are without power.   

There is no word on what caused these outages, or when the power will be restored.

Several areas experienced power outages on Wednesday evening.

More than 1,200 Appalachian Power customers in our area were without power as of 10:40 p.m.

As of 10:50 p.m., 121 Roanoke County customers were without power, and 219 customers were without power in Roanoke City, according to Appalachian Power.

There is no word on what caused these outages, or when the power will be restored.
