Senators Kaine, Warner secure nearly $100 million for affordable housing, homelessness

The funds will be spread across the Commonwealth

Nearly $100 million is headed to the Commonwealth to fund affordable housing, community development, and homelessness.

Announced by Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, they said no Virginian should worry about where they’re going to sleep at night.

This comes from a number of housing and urban development grants and programs.

Warner said the shortage of supply continues to drive up costs.

“Housing costs still remain the most stubborn part of inflation so getting these dollars out into the marketplace I hope combined with the federal reserve deciding to lower interest rates and cut back a little bit, which would also take off some of the burden on house purchases, would be significant,” Warner said.

Warner said he’s working on a more robust housing policy on the federal level, as a part of the banking and housing committee.
