Kroger employee finds lost wedding ring for customer in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – A store supervisor at Kroger in Rocky Mount became an angel to one of her favorite customers after the customer lost her wedding ring during a shopping trip.

The employee is being recognized on social media for her dedication to finding the ring in an unlikely place.

Nancy Lamkin needed to pick up items for a Labor Day outing.

"Just any shopping day. I was looking for things for the picnic," said Lamkin.

But at the checkout counter she lost her most special and personal gift.

"I reached down, like, this to pick up my item and when I did, I had my hand like that and the ring slipped off," Lamkin said.

Lamkin thought her wedding ring fell on the floor. Managers at the store thought of a plan to help find the ring.

"She (a manager) said, 'When you all leave, we'll close this down and clean and come back and check it," said Lamkin.

After several more shopping trips to Kroger, Nancy still didn't have her ring. But during one visit, managers gave her good news.

"They said, 'Kelly found it.' 'God Bless her. Where did she find it?,'

Kelly Taylor, a supervisor and cashier, was off the day Nancy lost her ring. But that didn't stop her from helping to search every aisle close to the registers.
Eventually, she hit a sweet spot.

"It was flipped up in the edge of the box and that's when I found it, when I opened it up," said Kelly Taylor.

The lost wedding ring caused the two women to form a bond.

"It's like she is my best Kroger friend, for sure," said Lamkin.

"Every time I see her, she comes through my line. She won't go through anybody else's but mine," said Taylor.

Lamkin said in  situations like this one, she feels great knowing her favorite store is looking out for her.
