Next six-year Henry County secondary road plan adopted

County supervisors adopted plan at Tuesday meeting

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – The next six-year road plan in Henry County is now in place, but not many of projects may get done due to lack of money from the state.

County supervisors adopted the plan, which covers secondary roads, at their meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Priority number one for the county is to finish work on Irisburg Road.

The county received $180,000 from the state this year for road projects, which will likely leave little money to do anything else but the work on Irisburg Road.

"Even though it's been on the six-year road plan, it actually took several years to implement it. So we have to finish that first, and then what little money's remaining will go towards some other minor safety improvements," Deputy Henry County Administrator Dale Wagoner explained.

Wagoner also emphasized that while the plan is a six-year plan, it is updated every year based on the amount of money the county gets from the state and projects that get completed.
