LYNCHBURG, Va. – Brookville remained undefeated on the year with a convincing 10-2 victory over Fluvanna County in the Girls 3A west region softball quarterfinals. Bees ace pitcher Jordan Dail tallied 17 strikeouts in the win. In other 3A girls action, Liberty blanked Rockbridge County 11-0, and Turner Ashby trails Patrick Co. 1-0 in the third inning. The game has been delayed by rain and will resume at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Broadway advances with a 2-1 win over Cave Spring. Semifinals in the region are set for Thursday in Covington.
In 3A West baseball, Brookville defeated Western Albemarle 4-2. They will take on Cave Spring next. The Knights advanced to the semifinals with a 4-3 win over Northside. Meanwhile Lord Botetourt was elIminated by Turner Ashby 6-2. They will battle Abingdon next. Semifinals are set for Thursday in Christiansburg.
In lacrosse action, Patrick Henry advances to the region final in 5A South with an 11-5 win over Douglas Freeman. They will square off against Atlee in the final on Thursday. In the 4A Ranks, EC Glass has advanced to the region finals against the Midlothian boys, while the Salem girls will battle Monticello in the 4A region final.
