Here's a look at some of the stories we'll be following today

The Rockbridge Area Health Center holds a Back 2 School Festival today.  There will be bounce houses and food.  The fire and police departments, YMCA and more will also be there.  It runs from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brewbaker Field.

The Roanoke Kennel Club will donate pet oxygen recovery mask kits to the Roanoke and Salem Fire Departments.  Each of the 14 fire stations, as well as some volunteer departments in Bedford and Franklin Counties, will get one.  The kit has an oxygen tube and reusable mask that fits over an animal's snout.

Do some tax-free shopping and help local students.  At some area Walmart stores, you buy school supplies and donate them to local schools.  Roanoke and Roanoke County schools will collect supplies at the Clearbrook, Valley View and Bonsack locations.  Lynchburg schools will collect supplies at the Old Forest Road and Wards Road locations.  For a list of supplies you can buy tax-free, click here.

The Salem VA Medical Center holds a Veterans Town Hall today at 2 p.m.  The leadership team will talk about access, scheduling and benefits.  After the information session, there will be a pinning ceremony for Vietnam Veterans, where those who served will receive a commemorative pin and be recognized.

Danville Transit unveils its new Mainline Trolley Service today.  The bus will travel a historic route, used by trolley cars in the 19th century, linking the Old West End, River District and Neapolis.

Meet the new principal of E.C. Glass High School today.  Acting Superintendent Larry Massie will introduce Dr. Jeffrey Garrett today at a meet and greet at 3 p.m. at the school.

The Virginia National Guard will formally open the new Roanoke Regional Readiness Center in Troutville today.  The 29th Division Band recently relocated there from Clifton Forge.  The 56.5 acre site was secured from the Botetourt Correctional Center in June of 2015.  The center closed in 2010 and was transferred to the guard, free of charge.
