The Bus Riders of Roanoke Advocacy Group’s Sorriest Bus Stop Contest has returned for 2026!

In Roanoke Wednesday the bus riders of the Roanoke Advocacy Group or BRRAG honored Transit Equity Day, a National Day honoring Rosa Parks and the continued right to fair and accessible public transportation.

People across the Roanoke Valley are being challenged to give up their keys for a week to experience the daily realities of getting around without driving.

For the second consecutive year, a bus stop on Highway 460 has won the Sorriest Bus Stop Contest.

The Bus Riders of Roanoke Advocacy Group (BRRAG) has launched its 2025 Sorriest Bus Stop Contest, where 16 nominated stops have been competing for the coveted title of “sorriest” throughout the month.

Roanoke City Council has approved the addition of a bus shelter for one of the city's busiest and most neglected bus stops, though advocates say further improvements are needed.
