Steppin' Out returns to Blacksburg August 5-6, for live music, food and vendors.

On Thursday, Downtown Blacksburg Inc. announced that they will be hosting the 41st Annual Steppin’ Out Festival in the streets of downtown in August.

The Town of Blacksburg kicked off the holiday season with a much-needed boost to local businesses through a new gift certificate program. A collaboration between the Town of Blacksburg, the Blacksburg Partnership, and Downtown Blacksburg Inc., Blacksburg Bucks is a double value gift certificate program designed to encourage and provide incentive to support Blacksburg businesses during these challenging times. Using CARES Act funding, the Town of Blacksburg will double the value of all Blacksburg Bucks purchased. If a customer purchases $100 in Blacksburg Bucks, they will receive an additional $100 in certificates, for a total of $200 to spend locally. Blacksburg Bucks are sold in $20 denominations.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, there’s a local scavenger hunt that could win you money. It started Friday in downtown Blacksburg and lasts through Sunday. A business with one of the scavenger hunt letters on its front door. If you find all the letters and figure out what phrase they spell, email Downtown Blacksburg Inc. at info@downtownblacksburg.com for a chance to win $50 worth of downtown Blacksburg gift cards. It’s great exposure for the businesses,” Downtown Blacksburg Inc. Executive Director Casey Jenkins said.

BLACKSBURG, Va. This Friday, you have the opportunity to support the Black Lives Matter movement and some local businesses at the same time. Downtown Blacksburg Inc. has organized a Black Lives Matter fundraiser. On Friday, several businesses, including Gourmet Pantry, will donate a portion of their profits to the Christiansburg Institute. The institute is a nonprofit that works to create community dialogue and promote the multicultural makeup of the New River Valley. Fringe Benefit, Main Street Pharmacy, Cafe de Bangkok, Next Door Bake Shop, New River Art & Fiber and Lias Hairstyling.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Downtown Blacksburg Inc. needs your help to create a unique Christmas tree. The organization is making a tree out of about 400 small boxes left over from another project. All of the boxes need to be painted green. You can stop by the office and paint a box or take one home to paint and bring it back. All of the boxes need to be ready by Nov 20.
