President Trump and Robert Wilkie, United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in recognition and commemoration of the Veterans who have served in the U.S. Uniformed Services. Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter deemed longest-married presidential couple
The Carters are officially the longest-married presidential couple as of Thursday, according to a post by the Carter Center. President Carter was 21 and Rosalynn was 18 when they were wed on July 7, 1946, in Plains, Georgia. The Carters have the longest marriage of any presidential couple. The previous record holders were George H.W. The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library featured a number of photos of the couple throughout their years together.
Poll: Michelle Obama most admired woman in 2019
For the second year in a row, the Gallup poll found Michelle Obama to be the โmost admirable womanโ in America. Gallup conducts a survey each year asking the open-ended questions: โWhat woman that you have heard or read about, living today in any part of the world, do you admire most? And who is your second choice?โAccording to WFLA, Michelle Obama was the only woman in double digits this year, polling at 10%, five percent less than in 2018. Current First Lady Melania Trump finished second this year, mentioned by 5% of polled individuals. President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama tied for 2019โs most admired man, mentioned by 18% of U.S. adults.
First lady Northam focuses on education during Roanoke Valley visit
ROANOKE, Va.- - As a former science educator for 12 years and experience with grades K through 5, the First Lady of Virginia says education in important from the very beginning. "To make sure we have nurturing and educational opportunities in those early years makes all the difference," said Pamela Northam. At the Raleigh Court TAP Head Start, she learned Thursday about their approach to helping families through its SwiftStart program. The grant is intended to strengthen the early Childhood Care and Education System. So if we are waiting until children go to kindergarten, we have missed our mark," said Vivien McMahan, director of early learning strategies.
