Grayson County High School Navy ROTC program proving popular
GRAYSON, COUNTY, Va. – A unique program to prepare high school students for potential military careers is quickly becoming popular at Grayson County High School. Navy ROTC started at the beginning of the school year and already has more than a dozen members. There is only one other high school in the state that has a similar program. The instructor at Grayson County High School, retired Lt. Cmdr. Shane Collins, said he is not surprised the program is popular.
Grayson County parents fed up with school leadership
GRAYSON COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Outside of Grayson County High School residents can see a trailer with colorful signs reading, "Stop the corruption, Save our kids," and "Why does central office hate kids?" "The teachers and staff here in the entire Grayson school system are wonderful. "My role is to look at the budget and see if I can make any sense of it," said Wanda Pinion with 'Grayson County Citizens 4 Better Schools.' "We've appropriated over a million dollars to help alleviate some of the schools financial [issues]," said John Brewer with the Grayson County Board of Supervisors. In the end, parents say a change in leadership may be the best solution to help kids in the future.
