Power has been restored to most Appalachian Power customers in the Roanoke area after sporadic outages amid high winds.

Over 2,500 customer outages have been reported in Roanoke following a vehicle accident that occurred in the area, Appalachian Power Company said.

After the severe weather our region experienced on Friday, many areas were left without power, peaking at 38,000 Appalachian Power customers. The company is currently working to restore power to high-outage areas.

911 phone lines are working again after an overnight outage in Wythe County.
