Casual-dining restaurant opens at Interstate 81 truck stop in Virginia

RAPHINE, Va. – If you’re driving down Interstate 81, you can now grab some wings and a burger at a truck stop in Raphine. Quaker Steak & Lube opened at White’s Travel Center on Wednesday. People can enjoy casual-dining menu items including wings, burgers and sandwiches as well as beer, wine and cocktails. We’re excited to announce the opening of our newest location in Raphine, Virginia! Country music star Kane Brown spotted at Interstate 81 truck stop in Virginia

RAPHINE, Va. – In case you needed a reminder, celebrities are just like us! Country music sensation Kane Brown made a quick pit stop at White’s Travel Center in Raphine on Thursday morning. Subway employee, Angie Graves, snapped a selfie with the ‘Heaven’ singer to remember the surprise visit. Brown recently released “Be Like That” with Swae Lee and Khalid back in July.

Food for Frontline makes a stop at Wythe County Community Hospital

On Friday, 10 News was there as 180 lunches were dropped off at the Wythe County Community Hospital from a special local business. Hospital employees lined up with carts, ready for one of Food for Frontline’s largest orders. Flourz owners, Dewey Newhouse and Jennifer Miller, along with their team, started working at 5 a.m. Friday morning to prepare the large order. Miller knows firsthand just how deserving the hospital employees are of a lunch to say thank for their hard work. She herself retired from Wythe County Community Hospital, trading in her scrubs for a ‘Support local business’ t-shirt.

Truck drivers passing through White’s Travel Center thankful for Food for Frontline donations

On Wednesday, dozens of truck drivers were surprised with a sandwich and a smile at White’s Travel Center in Raphine. At noon, White’s Travel Center employees set up at the front door handing out donated lunches to drivers coming in off the road, ready to refuel. White’s Travel Center owner Bobby Berkstresser said he’s heard from drivers that in some parts of the country good food has been harder to come by. Truck drivers has not always had the best reputation maybe. If you would like to donate to the Food for Frontline initiative, click here.

Carilion urgent care center opens Thursday in Raphine

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. - For people in and around Rockbridge County, Carilions newest urgent care center, just off Interstate 81 in Raphine, is much needed. This is the result of the community saying, We need urgent care. We wanted to serve the community, so were proud to be opening," Carilion Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital Vice President Greg Madsen said. Carilion went one step further and located the center next to Whites Travel Center to serve truck drivers and the traveling community, as well as people who live nearby. The travel center helped secure the money needed for the urgent care center and worked with Carilion to come up with a design. Carilion Community and Family Medicine Vice President Kim Roe expects the urgent care center to be well received.
