A frosty start , warming up for the afternoon

Another shot of cold arrives for Thanksgiving

ROANOKE, VA - – If you parked outside, get the ice scrapers ready! Clear skies and hardly a breath of wind have created perfect conditions for widespread frost. The heavier jacket will be needed this morning, but temperatures will flirt with 60 degrees later this afternoon.

We'll see more clouds through the afternoon as warmer air surges in, but most of us stay dry during the day. Late tonight as another cold front blasts through, shower chances return to the area. The best chances to see rain will be along the western slopes and across Southside, Central Virginia as the front sweeps through. Dry weather takes over at least through the extended holiday weekend.

Thanksgiving

Sunshine takes over again by Wednesday and stays with us through the weekend, but so too does the chill. We'll wake up to temperatures in the 20s and 30s Thanksgiving morning with highs in the upper-40s and lower-50s. Temperatures in the lower-30s will greet door-busting Black Friday shoppers.
