As the month of February inches closer, not to mention, Monday marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we thought we’d ask: What does Black History Month mean in your house?
Black History Month is a time to reflect and honor the contributions of African-Americans, and pay homage to those who came before us. And it wasn’t always a full month. First, it was just one week in 1926, when an organization chose early February to promote the achievements by Black Americans and other people of African descent. That week, selected to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass, went on to span the month of February.
