Death at Roanoke City Jail

ROANOKE (WSLS) -- The Roanoke City Sheriff's Office says an inmate was found unresponsive in the jail Wednesday morning.

At 4 a.m., Roanoke City Sheriff's Deputies performing routine security checks and found inmate Sean Michael Lovelace, 43, unresponsive.

Deputies administered first aid and called the jail medial staff and Roanoke City FIRE/EMS. EMS transported Lovelace to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m.

Lovelace was arrested on May 14th on charges of felony possession of a firearm. An autopsy is being performed to determine the official cause of the death.
