PEMBROKE (WSLS 10) - It may be cold this weekend, but one local attraction is turning the frigid weather into fun for the whole family.
Mountain Lake Lodge is hosting a Winter Carnival this weekend.

The event will feature things like snowman and igloo-building contests, an ice bar and a big screen to watch football, sledding and archery.
Following the carnival, the lodge will open every weekend for the rest of the winter. This will be the first time since the lodge's re-opening that people can come in on winter weekends.
General manager Heidi Stone said, "Three years ago, we started to revitalize Mountain Lake essentially to save it because if we didn't, it could have closed. We need business here year around, so we're doing some fun activities on the weekend, and we need folks to come out and support us."
The carnival kicks off at 3pm Friday and runs 11-8pm on Saturday and Sunday.
