BALTIMORE (AP) - A man whose murder conviction in the death of his high school girlfriend was the subject of a wildly popular podcast will now have his story memorialized in a book.

St. Martin's Press, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers, in September will release a book about "Serial" podcast subject Adnan Syed.

"Adnan's Story" is due out Sept. 6.

The author is Rabia Chaudry, a family friend and staunch supporter of Syed's who brought his case to the attention of Sarah Koenig, the host of "Serial." The podcast reached millions of listeners and broke records for number of downloads.

Syed was convicted of strangling Hae Min Lee in 2000 and sentenced to life in prison.

A Baltimore judge is reviewing whether Syed deserves a new trial on the grounds of ineffective counsel.
