Matt Jaworowski, Media General National Desk – (MEDIA GENERAL) – In the fall of 2014, Zach Both decided to quit his job as an art director to follow his passion: filmmaking. But, to serve his needs as he traveled the country, Both got creative. He transformed an old work van into a swanky mobile home.

Both purchased a used electrician's van with more than 200,000 miles, which he called a "potentially foolish decision," and renovated the van's cargo space from top to bottom. Both documented the thorough process, sharing photos of the transformation, which included removing rust and repainting surfaces, applying flooring and custom wood paneling, and installing solar panels to small appliances and other electronics.

And here is the van at the end of its six-month journey.

Both claims he had no prior carpentry experience and learned a lot from YouTube tutorials, along with some help from his parents. To help others who may be interested in pursuing a similar project, he included detailed notes of his plans and materials on his website, The Vanual.
