Several arrested after heroin bust in WV

HUNTINGTON, WV (WSLS 10) - A dozen people are in jail after a major drug bust in West Virginia.

Police detained more than twenty people after the raid, although not all of them will face criminal charges. They say most of the suspects arrested were from out of town and have long criminal histories.

A swat team raided two adjacent apartments in Huntington, busting what they say is a heroin distribution operation.

People who live in the complex say drugs are a big problem.

Huntington Police Chief Joe Ciccarelli said "They are people here that don't deserve to have this next door to them.

One neighbor, Nemoa Ferguson, said "It's taken their lives. It's taking them to prison, losing their children. It's a horrible thing."

Two weeks ago Huntington made national headlines when more than two-dozen people overdosed on heroin in just a few hours.

Several of those overdoses took place at this apartment complex and in the surrounding area.
