LYNCHBURG, Va. – Police are investigating the shooting death of a 22-year-old Lynchburg man at 1823 Main St. early Sunday.
The Lynchburg Police Department said officers were called to the area after reports of shots fired about 3:47 a.m.

Witnesses reported there was some type of altercation and someone began shooting in the direction of the victim, Omarr Tarik Thompson.
Police said Thompson was taken by a personal vehicle to an emergency room and was pronounced dead at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Police said the shooting remains under investigation and is asking anyone with information to call 888-798-5900.
