It didn’t take long for JMU to bring the heat. In the first quarter, the team’s running back Jawon Hamilton ran for a 99-yard touchdown.

VMI’s kicker Jerry Rice hit a 44-yard field goal to cut the Dukes’ lead to 4.

However, 14-unanswered points by JMU increased the Keydets deficit in Harrisonburg.

In the third quarter, VMI’s quarterback Seth Morgan ran for one yard to bring in another touchdown for the team, to close the gap to 21-10.

But in the end, the Dukes proved too much for VMI, with JMU winning, 31-24.
