What’s News Today: Return to school, free gift cards

Here’s a look at some of the stories we’ll be following today as they make headlines across the country and Southwest Virginia.

Students in Pulaski County Public Schools will return to in-person learning today for the second semester. Students will attend in-person four days a week. Starting next week, Wednesdays will be a virtual learning day. Individual schools could return to reduced capacity or all-virtual, depending on COVID-19 conditions in the future.

Buy a gift card, get one free. Starting at 8 a.m., you can buy a $25 Downtown Roanoke Gift Card and receive a bonus $25 gift certificate. The bonus gift certificates must be used by March 14th. There are only 1,000 available and they are expected to sell out quickly. There is a limit of ten gift cards per person.

Today is the last day to register for Lynchburg Parks and Recreation’s Inaugural Polar Plunge. You will take the plunge into the James River in celebration of winter. Participants will receive a towel for their bravery. The cost is $12. The plunge is Saturday.
