Strong winds have knocked out power to thousands across our viewing area.

Below are the worst outage areas among the 1,750 Appalachian Power customers in Central Virginia and Southwest Virginia as of 5 p.m.:

182 Central Virginia Electric Cooperative customers in Nelson County do not have power as of 5 p.m.
