Roanoke County Police investigating crash that sent a man to the hospital

ROANOKE CO, Va. – A man is recovering after Roanoke County Police say he crashed his vehicle on Peters Creek Road.

The crash happened around 5:40 a.m. Saturday.

Police have identified the driver as Raymond Reigle and say he was driving at a high rate of speed on Airport Road when he ran off the right side of the road, went airborne and then landed on Peters Creek Road.

Reigle was later taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police have determined that Reigle was not wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor.

The crash, which did shut down the northbound lane of Peters Creek road for an extended period of time, is still under investigation.

No charges are pending at this time.
