In her 9th-grade essay, Yeardley Love wrote about what she wanted to do with her life: to attend the University of Virginia, to play lacrosse there, to become a lawyer and to maintain her close relationship with her family. Many of her dreams came true, but ended abruptly and violently when she was brutally beaten by her boyfriend, a lawyer for Love's family told a jury Tuesday in the civil trial of the man convicted in her killing. George Huguely V was convicted of second-degree murder and is serving a 23-year prison sentence in Love's slaying.

The 32-year-old’s injury is a setback for the Cavs, who are off to their first 3-0 start since 2016. The five-time All-Star made his season debut and played 38 minutes in the Cavaliers' double-overtime win at Detroit on Saturday. Love is in his seventh season with Cleveland, which is counting on him to lead a young team showing early signs of growth this season.

Others voiced their support in private but were hesitant to attend the protest out of fear of losing their jobs, Love said. Another employee, who also called for the protest, did not attend because she says she thinks she is sick with the coronavirus. A third employee emailed a statement to the Tribune, detailing the last seven months of his employment and echoing many of the grievances raised by Love.
